Add real photos

People hire people. Real photos of you, your work and your place build more trust than any stock photo.

1. Take or choose 4 photos:

  • you, or your team, smiling
  • your best finished work: before and after if you can
  • you at work
  • your shop, van or workspace

Take them in daylight, horizontal, with a tidy background. Only use photos of customers' homes, or of customers themselves, with their permission.

2. Make them small. Big photos make websites slow on phones. Go to squoosh.app. Drop in a photo, choose WebP on the right, move quality to about 75, and download. Aim for under 300 KB per photo.

3. Name them clearly. Rename each file to describe it: bathroom-fitting-leeds.webp, not IMG_4829.webp. Put them in your website folder.

4. Put them on the site. Ask your AI assistant:

Prompt — copy into your AI assistant
Here is my website file. Replace the 4 placeholder images with these files: {list the file names}. For each image, write alt text describing what's in the photo, for example "New walk-in shower fitted in a Leeds bathroom". Change nothing else. Give me the full updated file.

Paste in your current index.html below the message. Save the answer over your old index.html. Open it in your browser to check.

5. Upload. In Cloudflare, open your project and look for Create new deployment. Drag in your whole website folder again, including the photos, and deploy.

You just made your first change. on day 11, we'll turn this into a routine you can use for any change.

Done when: your live site shows your 4 real photos, and loads quickly on your phone.

Day 8 done. Continue to day 9
