A website that never changes slowly goes out of date. Wrong hours and old prices cost you customers. Today you learn one routine for any change, big or small.
The change routine
1. Copy first. Before any change, copy your whole website folder and name the copy with today's date: website-2026-10-15. If anything goes wrong, you still have the old version.
2. Ask for one change. Paste your file into your AI assistant with this sentence:
Change only this: {your change}. Keep everything else exactly the same. Give me the full updated file.
One change at a time. Small asks get accurate answers.
3. Check on your computer. Save the answer over the old file in your website folder, then double-click it to open it in your browser. Read the part that changed. Check nothing else moved.
4. Upload. In Cloudflare, open your project, choose Create new deployment, and drag in the whole folder.
5. Check on your phone. Open your live site on your phone. If you changed the form, send a test enquiry.
Practise now. Make one real change. Ideas: update your opening hours, add a price, or add a line about your newest service.
What to change, and when:
- Hours, holidays and prices: the same day they change
- A new service: add it the week you start offering it
- A question customers keep asking: add the answer (we'll do this properly on day 22)
Using WordPress, Wix, Squarespace or another platform? The routine is the same idea. Keep a backup, make one change, preview it, publish, then check on your phone. Your platform has its own edit and publish buttons.
Done when: you've made one real change with all 5 steps, and have a dated copy of your old version.
