‘Call for pricing’ loses buyers who will not pick up the phone. The form should ask what to price, which company is asking, and enough location context (ZIP or postcode) for freight or labour to be in the right ballpark.
Notifications to the estimator, not a generic hello@.
Add it in extra fields or rename inquiry type after copy.
Repeat the link from every product spec sheet.
Keep the submission ID in your quote PDF footer.
A quote request is the buyer asking you to propose a number. It is not an order and it is not a formal RFQ packet with drawings. US construction and UK trades both use this pattern: describe the job, wait for a figure, then decide. The form’s job is to stop ‘how much is it?’ emails that omit quantity, site postcode, or even the company name.
Estimators still do the maths. This page just gives them a complete first message so they are not chasing a Gmail thread across three people named Alex.
A quote that starts from a one-line email is usually wrong on freight, access, or VAT treatment.
Tell buyers in the intro whether you quote in USD or GBP so they do not assume the other.
Chat widgets feel modern until someone pastes a 40-line spec into a bubble.
Sits next to ‘from £x / from $x’ so intent is obvious.
Works for high-ticket. Wasteful when the answer is a PDF price.
Good for clarification, bad as the system of record.
Salesforce CPQ is for teams that already have SKU logic. This form feeds that later.
Agencies still ship 12-page static sites for manufacturers. A quote form on /pricing posts to your form backend so the designer never had to stand up WordPress.
Route US and UK requests with a line in the message asking for ZIP or postcode; split territories in the dashboard, not with two codebases.
RFQ usually implies drawings and a bid deadline. Use this for simpler ‘please price this’ traffic; use the RFQ generator for formal packets.
Ask for a file link in the message, or add a file input after you adjust field labels.
Your choice. The form works whether the page shows a range or says ‘request a quote’.
Same business day in the buyer’s time zone beats a prettier PDF tomorrow.
